Kentucky opens football season with 45-13 victory over Youngstown State

The Kentucky football team opened its season with a 45-13 home victory against Youngstown State on Saturday. Quarterback Kenny Minchey led the offense with 301 passing yards and four touchdowns, helping the team accumulate 506 total yards. The Wildcats' running game also performed well, with C.J. Baxter, Jason Patterson, and Martels Carter contributing significant yardage. While the offense proved effective, the defense struggled to generate a consistent pass rush against Youngstown State quarterback Beau Brungard. Coach Will Stein also integrated tight ends Willie Rodriguez and Mikkel Skinner into the passing scheme, and freshman receivers Kenny Darby and Prince Jean recorded productive outings.
