Kermit Davis Sr., former Mississippi State coach, dies at 91

Kermit Davis Sr., a notable figure in Mississippi State basketball, passed away at the age of 91 on August 10. Davis had a distinguished career both as a player and coach, being inducted into two Hall of Fames. As a player at Mississippi State from 1956 to 1959, he captained the 1958-59 team that achieved a 24-1 record and won the school's first SEC regular-season championship. Additionally, he served as head coach at Mississippi State from 1970 to 1977, earning SEC Coach of the Year honors in 1971. He was also recognized for his involvement in high school basketball across Mississippi and the Bulldog Club at Mississippi State.
