Kings explore trade for Domantas Sabonis, negotiations fell short with Raptors

Summary

The Sacramento Kings actively sought to trade Domantas Sabonis prior to the 2026 NBA Draft, exploring several options. The most significant discussions involved a near deal with the Toronto Raptors centered around RJ Barrett. Ultimately, the trade collapsed due to financial issues related to Jakob Poeltl's contract. Despite undergoing season-ending surgery for a partially torn meniscus, Sabonis remains a focal point for the Kings as they assess his trade value. They also met with Jalen Duren from the Detroit Pistons and initiated talks with the Charlotte Hornets and Boston Celtics, reflecting their willingness to make roster changes.
