Kirill Marchenko returns to Columbus Blue Jackets for training camp

Kirill Marchenko has arrived in Columbus and is skating with the Blue Jackets ahead of training camp, which begins next week. Despite his return, general manager Don Waddell continues to entertain trade inquiries for the forward. Waddell stated that while every player remains available for the right price, he intends to seek proven NHL talent in return rather than draft picks or prospects. The team requires Marchenko’s offensive output, as he led the roster with 27 goals last season and carries a $3.85 million cap hit. Waddell noted that the Blue Jackets are also evaluating veteran free agents to potentially sign to professional tryout offers before the season starts. Medical evaluations for the team are scheduled for September 16 at Nationwide Arena.
