Kirk Cousins faces competition from Fernando Mendoza with Raiders

As the 2026 NFL season approaches, the quarterback situation for the Las Vegas Raiders has intensified. A prediction suggests that Fernando Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick in this year's draft, could become the starting quarterback within the first few weeks, increasing pressure on veteran Kirk Cousins. Mendoza has drawn attention for his potential and skill set, prompting speculation about a shift in leadership at the position. While Cousins brings experience and stability, early struggles or continued success from Mendoza could lead to heightened calls for a change under center. The competition between them is expected to be a major storyline as training camps begin.
