Knappa boys and Astoria freshmen shine in cross country meets

BasketballClatsop County cross country teams continued their strong performances over the weekend with notable results at various meets. The Knappa boys team, led by junior Rowdy Justus, secured second place at the Jack and Jill Invitational, finishing behind Mountainside High School. All five scoring runners for Knappa placed in the top 20, with Justus clocking a personal best of 15:49.79. The Knappa girls team also finished second, with senior Emma Jackson leading the charge. Freshmen runners Grady Tillotson and Ila Canessa stepped up for the Astoria teams, finishing 17th and leading their squads to eighth and fourth place overall respectively at the Steve Maas Run-a-Ree. Knappa's next competition will be at the Northwest Classic on September 19.
