Knicks' Josh Hart faces competition for starting role in upcoming season

Summary

As the New York Knicks gear up for the 2026-27 NBA season, guard Josh Hart may face challenges for his starting position. Hart, who is in the final guaranteed year of his contract, is dealing with a right ring finger injury that affects his play. Despite averaging 12 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists last season, there are suggestions that the Knicks may limit Hart's minutes to keep him fresh for the playoffs. The emergence of other players, such as Landry Shamet and Jordan Clarkson, raises questions about Hart's role moving forward. Knicks head coach Mike Brown will have options to adjust the lineup based on matchups during the season.
