Knicks prepare potential trade scenarios for guard Miles McBride

The New York Knicks are expected to part ways with Miles McBride as they navigate salary cap constraints. Reports suggest the franchise will likely explore trade options for the 25-year-old guard within the first half of the season because they cannot afford his projected contract extension next summer. Leon Rose and the front office have historically traded players when extension negotiations reach an impasse. McBride holds an expiring $3.9 million salary, making him a tradable asset for teams looking to acquire backcourt depth. Potential trade ideas involving the guard include swapping him for frontcourt or backcourt help, such as Hornets center Ryan Kalkbrenner, Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr., or Clippers guard Kris Dunn. The Knicks currently operate under the second apron following the departure of Mitchell Robinson, necessitating a focus on long-term financial flexibility.
