Kofi Asare takes larger defensive role for Florida Gators

Kofi Asare is entering his final college football season with the Florida Gators, moving into a significant role at the Jack hybrid edge position. The former Doherty High athlete transferred to Florida after three seasons at the University of Massachusetts, where he recorded 30 tackles and three sacks during his final campaign. In the team’s recent 66-21 victory over FAU, Asare contributed four tackles and earned a team-high 82.8 defensive grade from PFF over 31 snaps. Head coach Jon Sumrall highlighted Asare as a surprise performer during training camp, noting his impact on both special teams and defense. Now working under defensive coordinator Ben White, Asare is focusing on mastering new techniques to solidify his presence in the SEC during this fifth and final year of eligibility.
