Kristen Rasmussen, a standout basketball player from Okemos, is featured by the Lansing State Journal as part of a celebration of Greater Lansing's top athletes. She achieved notable success at Michigan State University, where she became the career leader in rebounds and blocked shots. Later, Rasmussen was selected with the 51st pick in the 2000 WNBA draft by the Utah Starzz, becoming one of the first from her region to reach the league. Her WNBA career spanned nine seasons, during which she averaged 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds across 276 games.
