Kyren Caldwell commits to Maryland football over Alabama, Mississippi State

Columbia wide receiver Kyren Caldwell announced his commitment to the University of Maryland on July 4. The three-star prospect and top-75 wideout for the 2027 class chose the Terrapins after considering over 20 offers, including Alabama and Mississippi State. Caldwell, a key player for Columbia, had strong performances in his last two seasons, recording 48 catches for 701 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. His commitment is particularly significant as it may mark the beginning of more commitments from other Lake City prospects, including teammates Jaden McCray and Jaylen Underwood. Columbia will compete in FHSAA District 3-4A this upcoming season.
