LA Sparks waive rookie Ta'Niya Latson during WNBA season

The LA Sparks waived guard Ta'Niya Latson on July 6 during her rookie WNBA season. Latson, a former South Carolina standout, was selected 20th overall in the draft but averaged just 1.8 points in 10 regular season games. She had contributed seven points in each of her first two preseason games. The Sparks signed guard Kate Martin to a standard contract following her release. Latson, who has the option to transition to a developmental contract or join another team, previously led the nation in scoring at Florida State before transferring to South Carolina.
