Lakers defense shows improvement during training camp sessions

Summary

The Los Angeles Lakers have been focusing on enhancing their shooting and defensive capabilities, which appears to be paying off during training camp. Following a disappointing 2025 season where they ranked 20th in defensive rating, the team lost key defenders Marcus Smart and Jaxson Hayes. However, new addition Walker Kessler expressed confidence in the team's perimeter defense, suggesting they will surprise with their intensity and capabilities. Austin Reaves also noted improvements in practice with new teammates Matisee Thybulle and Zaire Williams, hinting at a more formidable defense for the Lakers under head coach JJ Redick.
