Lakers propose three-team trade to acquire Jonathan Kuminga

The Los Angeles Lakers are seeking to acquire Jonathan Kuminga from the Atlanta Hawks in a proposed three-team trade also involving the Houston Rockets. Currently, Kuminga is an unrestricted free agent after the Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option. The deal would send Kuminga to the Lakers via a sign-and-trade, alongside a 2031 second-round pick, while the Hawks would receive a second-round pick from the Lakers. The Rockets are expected to acquire Jarred Vanderbilt as part of the arrangement. Recent discussions between Kuminga and Lakers executives have suggested a potential starting role for him, but negotiations are ongoing due to salary demands and cap limitations for both the Lakers and Cavaliers, who have also shown interest in the forward.
