LaLiga president calls for FIFA's Infantino to resign

Summary

Javier Tebas, president of Spain's LaLiga, demanded the resignation of FIFA president Gianni Infantino on August 1, citing unresolved leadership issues and the contentious World Cup investor affair. Tebas stated that the withdrawal of FIFA's privatization proposal is not sufficient to address deeper governance problems within the organization. He highlighted concerns about unilateral decisions impacting players and competitions, emphasizing the need for new leadership to foster modern governance in world football. Infantino has faced backlash from various football federations, yet continues to receive support from nations like Egypt and Morocco, which are connected to future World Cup events.
