LaMonte Wade joins the Houston Astros after a stint in Triple-A with the White Sox. He is looking to improve on his previous MLB seasons, where he showed promise in 2021 and 2023 but struggled in 2025. Wade has been known for his ability to take pitches and draw walks, making him a more selective hitter. His roster spot comes at a time when the Astros are aiming to enhance their bench depth. As the team evaluates Wade's performance, they hope to benefit from his experience across multiple positions in the field.
- •Wade had a.250 average with 7 home runs in Triple-A this season.
- •He recorded a significant increase in walk rates compared to previous years.
- •Wade is expected to fill in various roles, including first base and outfield.
- •The Astros aim to reduce strikeout rates within their bench players.
- •Wade's selection mirrors past strategies of acquiring veteran players mid-season.
