Lancashire County Cricket Club opens new ground in South Ribble

Lancashire County Cricket Club inaugurated its second home ground, AO Farington, in South Ribble, marking the first new first-class cricket venue in 25 years. The ground hosted its first match against Kent in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, which Lancashire won. The venue has a capacity of 5,000, limited to 2,000 for initial games, and is designed to support community cricket alongside professional matches. Plans are in place to build an indoor training dome, expanding facilities to advance cricket in the region.
