Lance Stephenson lists Luka Doncic among top five NBA point guards

During an appearance on the show “3’s and Ones,” former NBA player Lance Stephenson named Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic as one of the top five point guards in league history. Stephenson included Isiah Thomas, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, and Stephen Curry alongside Doncic in his personal ranking. The selection prompted discussion among peers, with former NBA player Michael Beasley labeling the inclusion a hot take. While supporters suggest Doncic could eventually earn such status if he continues his current pace of play, critics note the omission of established players like Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, and Steve Nash. At 27, Doncic enters the 2026-27 season as the primary playmaker for the Los Angeles Lakers following the departure of LeBron James. He aims to build upon his 2025-26 scoring title to cement his legacy in the league.
