Lance Stroll will serve a grid penalty at the Spanish Grand Prix after Aston Martin installed multiple new power unit components to his AMR26. A Technical Delegate’s report confirms the car is now running its fifth internal combustion engine, turbocharger and MGU-K, along with a sixth energy store and seventh PU-ANC. These updates exceed the permitted seasonal allocation, triggering the grid drop at the Madrid venue. The team faced technical hurdles earlier in the weekend, including a suspected battery issue for Stroll during the second practice session on Friday. Teammate Fernando Alonso also experienced a clutch problem during the opening practice hour. Stroll is expected to start further back in the field for the first Formula 1 race held in Madrid.
