Las Cruces LB Denton Walter commits to New Mexico football program

Denton Walter, a standout linebacker from Las Cruces High, has committed to play for the University of New Mexico. Walter's commitment follows a scholarship offer from UNM coach Jason Eck on July 21, which he confirmed on social media. In the past two seasons, Walter accumulated impressive statistics, including 360 total tackles and 12 sacks. He played a pivotal role in a successful season for the Bulldawgs, who finished 12-1 and reached the state championship game. Las Cruces begins its 2026 season on August 21 against Rio Rancho.
