Las Vegas Raiders claim cornerback Darrell Luter Jr off waivers

The San Francisco 49ers released cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. during the recent roster reduction to meet the 53-man league limit. Following his release, five teams submitted waiver claims for the defensive back. The Las Vegas Raiders successfully acquired the 2023 fifth-round draft pick. The Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, Dallas Cowboys, and Indianapolis Colts were the other organizations that attempted to claim him. Luter spent three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, during which he appeared in 27 games. His recorded statistics include 38 tackles, one pass defensed, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. The high level of interest from other teams indicates they view the former South Alabama standout as a candidate for a larger role in a new defensive system.
