Las Vegas Raiders name Matt Gay as starting kicker

The Las Vegas Raiders have finalized their kicking situation by waiving undrafted rookie Kansei Matsuzawa. Matt Gay, 32, is now the team's primary kicker entering the regular season. The anticipated training camp competition between the two players did not materialize, as Matsuzawa struggled during the preseason. While Gay enters the season with the job, his position remains subject to ongoing performance evaluations. The Raiders previously relied on the veteran under special teams coach Joe Decamillis earlier this decade. The team is currently considering signing Matsuzawa to the practice squad to allow the former Hawaii player additional time to develop his skills for the NFL level.
