Lautaro Martinez sets Champions League objective for Inter before Real Madrid match

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez identified winning the Champions League as a genuine objective for his side ahead of their 2026-27 competition opener against Real Madrid. The fixture is scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Bernabeu. While the Italian club suffered an exit in the round of 16 during the previous season, Martinez indicated that the squad remains focused on collective effort rather than individual scoring records. The striker also addressed comments from Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe, who praised the quality of the Inter squad. Head coach Cristian Chivu and the team arrived in Spain on Sunday to finalize preparations for the tournament kick-off. Martinez noted that the team adjusts its tactical approach based on specific opponents to remain competitive against Europe’s elite clubs.
