Lazio schedules medical for free agent defender Diogo Leite

The club moved to secure the 27-year-old following the departure of Alessio Romagnoli, who recently completed a transfer to Al-Sadd in the Qatar Stars League. Because the transfer window has closed, the Italian side is utilizing the free agent market to address their defensive vacancy. Medical examinations for the former Portugal youth international are slated for Sunday in Rome. Should the deal proceed as planned, Leite is expected to sign a three-year contract. This move reunites the center-back with his former teammate Danilho Doekhi, who also moved from the Bundesliga to Lazio earlier this summer.
