LeBron James joins Philadelphia 76ers roster for 2026-27 season

Summary

LeBron James has signed with the Philadelphia 76ers following an eight-season tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers. The forward agreed to a near-minimum contract as he pursues another NBA championship. James is slated to join a lineup that includes Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, and Tyrese Maxey for the 2026-27 season. Former Lakers player Derek Fisher noted that the arrangement allows James to shift his responsibilities as he enters his 24th year in the league. According to Fisher, James is not required to be the primary offensive option on this roster and can instead focus on playmaking roles. The move represents an effort by James to compete for a title in the later stages of his professional career.
