Leflore, Foster, Gilbert named Daily Journal Athletes of the Week

East Union’s Ann Fleming Leflore has been recognized as the Daily Journal Female Athlete of the Week for August 17-22. Leflore, an outside hitter on the volleyball team, recorded 91 kills across six matches, with 52 of those during the Union County Tournament. Coen Foster of New Albany and Tyler Gilbert from Nettleton were jointly named Male Athletes of the Week, each receiving 38.5% of the votes. Foster won the Myrtle Invitational cross country race in 16 minutes, 23.47 seconds, while Gilbert scored two touchdowns in a football jamboree against Mantachie. Sebastian Joslin from Hamilton was also nominated but did not win.
