Longtime Wareham High School basketball coach Jim Brogioli died in his sleep at his home on September 7. A former Latin and English teacher at the school, Brogioli spent 25 years leading the Vikings boys basketball team to 404 career wins and five league championships. He retired in 1997, and the school later honored him by naming its basketball court in his memory. Throughout his career, he coached both boys basketball and cross country, earning three Div. 3 Coach of the Year honors. Beyond athletics, Brogioli served as a Marine Corps First Lieutenant and remained an active member of the Wareham community through St. Patrick’s Parish and local volunteer organizations. His sons, Kevin and Dave, later served as head coaches for the school's basketball programs.
