Leigh Barone named new Law softball coach after successful Masuk tenure

Leigh Barone has been appointed as the new head coach of Law softball, effective October 7, 2026. Barone previously led Masuk to an impressive tenure, winning seven CIAC Class L championships from 2018 to 2025 and achieving a 233-27 record. She takes over from Melanie Blude, who was absent for much of last season due to administrative leave. Law finished last season with a record of 21-5, losing closely contested matches in both the SCC championship and Class L semifinals. Barone, a Spanish teacher at Jockey Hollow Middle School, also coached numerous athletes who progressed to collegiate softball careers.
