Freshman quarterback Levi Davis secured a 29-27 victory for Ohio over Jacksonville State on Saturday night by rushing for a successful 2-point conversion in the third overtime. After the conversion, Ohio defender DJ James-Hamilton stopped Jacksonville State’s Darius Cannon short of the goal line to finalize the score. Davis entered the game in the final two minutes of regulation to replace the injured Matt Vezza, who had previously substituted for starter Nick Poulos. Ohio’s win marks coach John Hauser’s first victory since the removal of his interim tag.
