Lewis Hamilton secured the fourth starting position for the Spanish Grand Prix after a competitive qualifying session at the Madring. The Ferrari driver held provisional pole position during the initial Q3 laps but ultimately finished less than two tenths of a second behind polesitter Lando Norris. Hamilton's performance followed a challenging Free Practice 3 session in which he crashed into the final corner barrier. His teammate Charles Leclerc qualified directly behind him in the final standings. Leclerc noted that he may have pushed beyond the car's limits in certain corners while managing an older engine specification. Hamilton emphasized that Ferrari must improve overall performance to compete with the pace shown by Mercedes and McLaren during qualifying.
