Dominic James has been reassigned from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the AHL's Syracuse Crunch. James, who broke his hand during offseason training, missed training camp and the start of the 2026-27 NHL season. He is expected to play two games with the Crunch before returning to the Lightning. Syracuse plays the Rochester Americans tonight, followed by their home opener against the Belleville Senators. Once James is back in game shape, he is anticipated to rejoin the Lightning, who are playing back-to-back games in New York this weekend.
