Lionel Messi has donated €80,000 to support recovery efforts in Spain’s Sierra Oeste region following devastating wildfires. The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Diaz Ayuso, confirmed the donation, thanking Messi for his generosity amid ongoing reconstruction efforts. The wildfires, exacerbated by extreme heat, burned over 22,000 hectares, destroyed at least 43 homes, and severely damaged more than 300 others. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed, and recovery is expected to take considerable time. Messi’s connection to Spain, where he spent over two decades, has led him to engage in various charitable activities through his foundation and as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
