Lions begin training camp without Christian Izien and Christian Mahogany

Summary

The Detroit Lions opened training camp on July 29 without defensive back Christian Izien and guard Christian Mahogany. Izien was placed on the non-football illness list, while Mahogany is on the non-football injury list due to a previous broken left fibula. Both players are key contenders for starting positions. If they remain on the lists into the regular season, they would miss the first four games. Additionally, Lions' safety Brian Branch and defensive back Kerby Joseph are recovering from injuries, further complicating the secondary's situation as training camp continues.
