Lions expected to cut lineman Giovanni Manu before training camp

Summary

The Detroit Lions are predicted to release offensive lineman Giovanni Manu ahead of training camp. This comes just two years after the team traded up in the draft to select him. Manu has struggled since joining the team, spending the entire 2024 season on the non-football injury list and appearing in only four games in 2025, with one start. Analysts note that the Lions have revamped their offensive line, adding new veterans, which may leave Manu fighting for a roster spot. He will need to perform well in training camp and preseason to secure his position going into the new season.
