Lions lose season opener to Savage Storm 3-1 in volleyball match

The Missouri Southern State University volleyball team dropped its season opener to the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm, losing 3-1 on Thursday at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. The Lions won the first set 25-21 but were unable to sustain momentum, losing the next three sets 23-25, 19-25, and 16-25. Coach Joshua Moore noted that while the offense started strong, the team was outworked defensively in the latter sets. The match was the first of 12 scheduled for the six teams participating in the three-day Southern Invite. Alvis, Kendrick, and Gardner each contributed 13 kills for the Lions, demonstrating a balanced offensive effort.
