Lions RB Isiah Pacheco has sprained MCL but expected to return for Week 1

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell announced that backup running back Isiah Pacheco is dealing with a sprained MCL. Pacheco is expected to be ready for the Lions' season opener against the New Orleans Saints on September 13. The 27-year-old signed a one-year contract with Detroit this offseason to support starting running back Jahmyr Gibbs after the departure of veteran David Montgomery. With Pacheco sidelined, the Lions may evaluate other running back options during the remainder of the preseason to determine depth behind Gibbs.
