Lions re-sign tight end Anthony Firkser after Commanders release

The Detroit Lions announced the signing of tight end Anthony Firkser on July 31, 2026. Firkser, who was recently waived by the Washington Commanders, previously played for the Lions during the 2023 season, recording eight catches for 53 yards in seven games. His career spans stints with five NFL teams, including the Titans and Falcons. Following Firkser's addition, the Lions waived tight end Zach Horton. Other tight ends on the roster include Sam LaPorta, Brock Wright, and Tyler Conklin, the latter currently on the physically unable to perform list.
