LIV Golf cancels $40 million team championship amid funding concerns

Summary

LIV Golf has canceled its season-ending $40 million team championship originally set for August 27-30 at The Cardinal at St. John's in Michigan. This cancellation follows a previous event cancellation in June, highlighting ongoing financial difficulties for the league. Despite CEO Scott O'Neil's assertion of secured funding and interest from additional investors, uncertainty regarding the league’s future remains, particularly following Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund's decision to withdraw support by the end of the 2026 season. LIV Golf’s Indianapolis tournament is still scheduled for August 20-23, which will conclude the season.
