Liv Morgan retains women's world championship at WWE SummerSlam

Liv Morgan is still the WWE Women's World Champion after a successful defense over IYO SKY on night one of SummerSlam.

Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky flew into the ring and started WWE SummerSlam Night 1 in style, resulting in a big win for Morgan.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 featured a rare clean win for Liv Morgan, who tore the house down with Iyo Sky in her first title defense in 100 days.

WWE decided to kick off its SummerSlam premium live event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota tonight (Sat., Aug. 1, 2026) with Liv Morgan putting the women’s world championship on the line for the first time in the over 100 days she’s held the title. Yes, she legitimately went that long after winning it without putting it up for grabs. Sky won the Queen of the Ring tournament in Saudi Arabia to earn this chance. There simply was no getting out of this one. They weren’t very effective in doing so, as they were swiftly dealt with and brushed aside. From there, Sky and Morgan put together a legitimately fun war of attrition, with some incredible counters. The finish was outstanding, as Sky managed to avoid an Oblivion by flipping over on her head. Liv was there to rock her with a lung blower, setting her up for an Oblivion that actually hit.
