Liverpool confirms departures of academy players, includes Champions League hero

Liverpool announced the release of a dozen players following the expiration of their contracts this month, including seven academy players. Among them is Oakley Cannonier, who shot to fame for his role in the memorable Champions League comeback against Barcelona in 2019. Cannonier, now 22, has struggled with injuries and had previously sought more playing time elsewhere, including a trial with Leeds in 2025.
