Liverpool sign goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk

Liverpool have completed the signing of Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans for a fee of approximately €33 million, with an additional €2 million in potential add-ons. The 18-year-old has signed a six-year contract with the club but will remain at Genk on loan for the remainder of the 2026-27 season. The move signals a long-term succession plan for the goalkeeping position as the club prepares for a future beyond Alisson. While Alisson remains the primary starter, recent injury concerns and the lack of a clear backup prompted Liverpool to secure the young prospect. Brughmans gained professional experience by starting all 10 of Genk’s Pro League play-off matches last season. He is expected to join the squad following his loan stint as Liverpool transition their roster under the direction of Andoni Iraola.
