Local college football players open season across Division I FBS programs

Week 1 of the Division I FBS college football season featured several performances from players hailing from the Valley. Western Michigan quarterback Broc Lowry completed 15 of 21 passes for 89 yards in a 13-12 loss to No. 16 Michigan. Rice offensive guard Patrick Valent and San Diego State center Isaac Lucas helped their teams secure victories, with the Owls defeating Houston Christian 31-3 and the Aztecs beating Portland State 53-20.
