On NXT last night (Aug. 4), Lola Vice suffered her first loss in one the WWE Developmental brand’s Underground matches after going undefeated in four previous contests held under MMA-like rules in a ropeless ring. The loss also meant to the former professional MMA fighter had failed to recapture the NXT Women’s championship from Kendal Grey. It made for a natural end point to Vice’s run on Tuesday nights, which is why our own Josh Jagler asked, “Is Lola headed to Raw or SmackDown? Or will she make some more appearances in AAA?” in his latest thorough and engaging NXT review. Vice dropping the AAA Mixed Tag titles recently could signal that she’s also winding down her work with the lucha libre brand amidst rumors of a call-up. Leaving her gloves in the ring after the show ended on The CW is another. She also got a surprise visit from her boyfriend, SmackDown’s Damian Priest. One of those rumors we mentioned say they could soon be traveling together, so maybe he was there to pick Lola up and take her to work on Friday.
