Lone Star Conference teams rise in Week 5 AFCA poll after strong performances

The American Football Coaches Association released its Week 5 NCAA Division II rankings on October 5. Central Washington, despite a 41-14 win over Angelo State, dropped to No. 13. UT Permian Basin entered the rankings at No. 23 following a 38-27 victory against Northeastern State, while Midwestern State received four votes after a 44-32 win over Western Oregon. Individual standout performances include UTPB's McKyle So’oto with 15 tackles and Midwestern State's Kaden Brown with four touchdown passes. Other Lone Star Conference outcomes included Texas A&M-Kingsville overcoming a 21-point deficit to defeat West Texas A&M.
