Los Angeles Kings remember two scouts lost 25 years ago on 9/11

Twenty-five years after the September 11 terrorist attacks, the Los Angeles Kings organization continues to honor scouts Garnet “Ace” Bailey and Mark Bavis. Both men were aboard United Airlines Flight 175 while traveling to the team's training camp in 2001 when the aircraft was crashed into the World Trade Center. Bailey, the team’s director of pro scouting, was a long-time NHL veteran who won two Stanley Cups as a player with the Boston Bruins. Bavis was a 31-year-old former Boston University player entering his second season with the Kings' scouting staff. The team maintains connections to both families and continues to recognize the men through annual awards, including the Ace Bailey Award for leadership and the Mark Bavis Award for the organization's best newcomer. Players also continue to wear commemorative helmet patches in their honor.
