Lothar Matthäus supports Harry Kane for Ballon d’Or candidacy

Summary

Lothar Matthäus has endorsed Harry Kane as a leading candidate for the Ballon d’Or, citing Kane's outstanding performances this season. Playing for Bayern Munich, Kane had his best campaign in 2025/26, winning two domestic titles. Matthäus argues that Kane's consistency and impact overshadow other candidates. He points out that while Messi and Mbappé had notable achievements, they fell short in key competitions. Kane's lack of success in the World Cup and Champions League finals remains a concern, but Matthäus believes he deserves the honor based on overall contributions this year.
