Louisiana hosts Lamar at Cajun Field for 2026 season opener

Louisiana begins its 2026 college football schedule with a home matchup against Lamar at Our Lady of Lourdes Stadium. The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Ragin’ Cajuns look to improve on their 6-7 record from the 2025 season following their bowl game loss to Delaware. Junior quarterback Lunch Winfield leads the Louisiana offense in his return to the field. Lamar enters the contest with a 1-0 record after a 21-14 victory over Abilene Christian on Aug. 29. Quarterback Aiden McCowan directs the Cardinals' offensive attack as the team travels to Lafayette for this Week 1 encounter.
