Lowell High baseball team forfeits games and removes coaching staff

Lowell High School removed its entire varsity baseball coaching staff and forfeited three future games following a racial incident during a junior varsity game last spring. District officials confirmed the disciplinary actions Monday after an investigation into reports of race-based taunting toward Lincoln High. The California Interscholastic Federation San Francisco section mandated the forfeits against Lincoln, Galileo, and Washington high schools to impact upcoming season standings. Players and staff must now complete a mandatory sportsmanship course covering bullying, hazing, and implicit bias. While head coach Michael Sera was placed on leave, the district has not disclosed if student players face individual discipline due to privacy laws.
