LSU defeats Clemson in 51-10 season opener

Clemson opened the 2026 college football season with a 51-10 loss to LSU. The defeat followed a disappointing 2025 campaign for the Tigers, who finished 7-6 and failed to meet expectations. Despite off-season coaching changes, including the hiring of offensive coordinator Chad Morris and special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, Clemson struggled on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Christopher Vizzina started the game but was replaced by Tait Reynolds before returning late in the fourth quarter to lead the team's only touchdown drive. Defensively, Clemson allowed 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Dilin Jones, while LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt added two scores on the ground. Clemson looks to rebound next Saturday against Georgia Southern.
