LSU faces SEC in court over eligibility for former NFL players

LSU prepares to challenge the SEC regarding the eligibility of players recently waived from NFL training camps. A legal dispute is currently underway, as the SEC seeks to enforce a ban on former professional athletes returning to college football programs. Attorneys for the affected players previously secured a temporary restraining order against the NCAA, which was later extended to include Commissioner Greg Sankey and the SEC. This order currently prevents the conference from enforcing its ban on these athletes. A court hearing is set for September 3rd to determine whether the temporary restraining order will remain in place or if LSU’s request for a preliminary injunction will be granted.
